Consumer inSights+ Q1 2025: Contact Lenses Data Tables

The Consumer inSights+ Q1 2025 Contact Lenses Data Table breaks down consumer sentiment related to contact lenses by U.S. adults during this timeframe, in addition to providing in-depth demographic insights by age, gender, income, ethnicity, and race.

Report Methodology

The Vision Council fielded the survey through a third-party consumer sample provider, Full Circle Research, and captured 12,002 completed responses between January 8 and March 12, 2025. Key methodological details include:

  • Online survey of U.S. adults age 18+ using Full Circle’s consumer panel
  • 4,000 completed surveys collected per month
  • Margin of error < ±1% for overall results; larger for subgroups
  • 5% confidence level for statistical significance

Data was analyzed using advanced analytics techniques. Distinctions were made between prescription-related categories (exams, vision correction, managed vision care, and eyeglasses, lenses, and frames) and non-prescription products (plano sunglasses and readers) to ensure clarity in consumer behavior insights.

Key Findings

  • Over 60% of adults report having managed vision care coverage, with employer-sponsored plans remaining the most common.
  • 39% of contact lens users purchased their lenses online in Q1 2025.
  • 40% of consumers paid less than $100 out-of-pocket for their most recent glasses purchase.
  • 35% of readers purchased were priced at $10 or less, down from previous quarters.
  • More than 30% of plano sunglasses purchases in this quarter were $100 or more, marking the highest rate in recent years.

Why It Matters

Consumer insights are essential for understanding patient behavior, care-seeking trends, and the evolving vision care landscape. These findings support data-driven strategies for ECPs, retailers, manufacturers, and vision care providers.
