Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Engineer / Analytics Engineer to design, automate, and deliver scalable data solutions that support decision-making across a mission-driven nonprofit organization. This role blends data engineering, analytics, and stakeholder communication, with a strong emphasis on Snowflake, API-based data ingestion, AI-driven workflows, survey data reporting and dashboard development.

This is a 100% remote position with potential quarterly travel for team collaboration and stakeholder engagement.

Key Responsibilities

Data Engineering & Architecture

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines within a Snowflake environment 
  • Implement and optimize ETL/ELT workflows using modern data stack practices 
  • Use AWS Lambda and related AWS services to ingest, transform, and move data into Snowflake 
  • Ensure data integrity, performance optimization, and cost efficiency within Snowflake 

Data Integration & Automation

  • Develop and maintain integrations using APIs to automate data collection from internal and external sources 
  • Build reliable, scheduled data workflows for continuous ingestion and transformation 
  • Monitor pipeline performance and troubleshoot failures 

Analytics, AI & Reporting

  • Leverage AI/ML tools (e.g., LLMs, predictive models, or automation frameworks) to enhance reporting and insights generation 
  • Develop and maintain dashboards using business intelligence tools
  • Translate complex datasets into actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders 
  • Experience with forecasting and advanced analytics a plus

Stakeholder Engagement & Communication

  • Partner with cross-functional teams to understand data needs and deliver solutions 
  • Create and deliver presentations and reports for leadership and program teams 
  • Provide guidance on data best practices and analytics strategy 

Required Qualifications – (do not apply without meeting these qualifications)

  • 3+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or similar roles 
  • Strong hands-on experience with: 
    • Snowflake (data modeling, performance tuning, data warehousing) 
    • API integration and data ingestion pipelines 
    • AWS (especially Lambda, S3, and related services) 
  • Experience with business intelligence tools like Power BI, Tableau, or DisplayR 
  • Proficiency in SQL and at least one programming language (R or Python preferred) 
  • Experience working with automated data pipelines and orchestration tools 
  • Proven ability to create reports and present insights to stakeholders 
  • Experience with using AI tools or workflows applied to analytics or automation to create efficiencies

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in nonprofit, healthcare, education, or mission-driven organizations 
  • Familiarity with data engineering tools (dbt, Airflow, Fivetran, etc.) 
  • Exposure to AI-assisted analytics or data enrichment workflows 
  • Experience with data governance and compliance practices
  • Experience working with survey data
  • Experience in market and/or consumer research
