National Sunglasses Day is Tomorrow!

National Sunglasses Day is tomorrow, June 27, and The Vision Council is excited to see the day promoted and celebrated in the effort to spread the important message to consumers of the importance of wearing ultraviolet (UV) eye protection.

Continuing last year's success of seeing the campaign go viral with more than 1 billion impressions, members and the industry at large are encouraged to spread campaign messaging on social media by using the official hashtags, #SunglassSelfie and #NationalSunglassesDay, plus the handle @TheVisionCouncil on Instagram and Facebook, and @OpticalIndustry on Twitter. By utilizing these hashtags, consumers can easily find, follow and contribute to the greater conversation on UV eye health, while simultaneously drawing attention to your brand's visibility online. Be sure to encourage your followers to get involved and share their own post with the hashtags.

This year, The Vision Council executed a media tour—resulting in ~23 broadcast interviews—with TV personality and celebrity stylist Brad Goreski on June 19, spreading the word about National Sunglasses Day, the importance of UV eye protection and the latest summer sunwear trends. Select interviews have aired since the filming, with more scheduled for tomorrow.

The Vision Council is also offering official National Sunglasses Day Facebook frames for users to leverage tomorrow with their profile pictures.

Lastly, The Vision Council distributed a press release via PR Newswire yesterday to further push the messaging to the masses.

Don't forget you have access to The Vision Council's online portal—via nationalsunglassesday.com—that offers ready-to-use logos, social media images and sample posts, downloadable posters, web banners, FSI starbursts and more.

Please keep The Vision Council in the loop regarding your National Sunglasses Day plans, so our team can further assist with and promote your efforts tomorrow. Contact Maureen Beddis, The Vision Council's vice president of marketing & communications.
