2021 Executive Summit Speaker Spotlight Series: Priya Parker

Ahead of the 2021 Executive Summit, taking place virtually January 26–28, The Vision Council is highlighting each of the event’s keynote speakers through a Speaker Spotlight Series.

Today’s Speaker Spotlight features Priya Parker, a conflict resolution facilitator and author of The Art of Gathering: How We Meet and Why it Matters. Parker is also the executive producer and host of The New York Times podcast, “Together Apart,” and the founder of boutique advisory firm, Thrive Labs.

On Wednesday, January 27, Parker will sit down with Reade Fahs, CEO at National Vision, Inc., for a conversation about the art of gathering and the strategies that can be employed by individuals and companies to host highly impactful in-person and virtual meetings. Parker will speak to how her role as a strategic facilitator has shifted since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic and share key tips for gathering effectively online and how to invent creative, meaningful ways of being apart to provide comfort, create rituals, and foster togetherness during unpredictable times. The conversation will be followed by a Q&A session.

More About Priya Parker

Priya Parker is a master facilitator, strategic advisor, acclaimed author of The Art of Gathering: How We Meet and Why it Matters. Parker has spent 15 years helping leaders and communities have complicated conversations about community, identity and vision at moments of transition. Trained in the field of conflict resolution, Parker has worked on race relations on American college campuses and on peace processes in the Arab world, southern Africa, and India.

Parker is a founding member of the Sustained Dialogue Campus Network, a member of the World Economic Forum Global Agenda Council on Values Council and the New Models of Leadership and a Senior Expert at Mobius Executive Leadership. She studied organizational design at M.I.T., public policy at the Harvard Kennedy School, and political and social thought at the University of Virginia.
